Australia's Defence Policy

RADIO 2CBA FOCAL POINT COMMENTARY

The Australian Government spends about $11 billion per year on defence - that is about $30 million per day. But are we getting value for money?

The Blue Paper Project , based in Sydney, is an initiative of various non-governmental organizations to generate discussion on the political and military role that Australia will play in the 21st Century, and of the defence philosophy and policy adopted by the Government.

The “Blue Paper” title is a play on words. The Australian Government - following the example of the British Government - issues White Papers which are statements of policy (in the old days, they were published on white-coloured paper). A Green Paper (which in the UK is actually published on green-coloured paper) is simply a discussion paper published by the Government to gauge public attitudes on a matter. In due course, the ideas in a Green Paper become the basis of the White Paper.

The problem with Australia’s defence policy is that by tradition there has been very little public debate of it. The Blue Paper Project is a way of stimulating the debate - and encouraging Australian Governments to accept the need for more public debate on defence.

The Australian Government has been working on a new White Paper on defence. Early indications are that the Government will try to increase the defence expenditure.

There is obviously a need for public debate on defence expenditure. The Australian Defence Force did very well in East Timor. But too often there is an attitude that “peacekeeping is not proper soldiering ” - it is the sort of activity carried out until a “real” war comes a long.

In fact, peacekeeping operations and low intensity warfare are the real forms of warfare that the Australian Defence Force will need to carry out in the future.

Therefore, does Australia really need all the heavy capital expenditure to which so much money is allocated? That policy is good news for the arms manufacturers but is it really what the Australian Defence Force requires in an East Timor type peacekeeping operation?

Therefore, it is important that the Australian Government make its Green Paper widely available and that there be adequate public discussion of it. The Blue Paper Project is playing an important role in encouraging more public debate of Australian defence policy

In World War I, it was said that warfare is too important to be left to the generals. That is still the case.

Did anyone notice 'the hole' in Australias defence?
Being interested in national defence like many ordinary folks, I first looked at the size of our armed forces (and some of what they had purchased) then I looked at the size of the Indonesian armed forces, and then over I went and I looked at Chinas vast army and I wondered, "what if either of them ever got here in any large numbers?"
What would we fall back on, that might be established in Defence arsenals?
Over the years many, many times I asked the one simple question (of three federal governments), "what was there for the citizens in time of war?".
There seemed to be no hand weapons in Defence arsenals, that I could detect, to hand out to a citizens army...if one were suddenly needed vis-a-vis 'the hole'.
I then observed the gun clubbers and the farmers... and saw that they had lost most of their semi-auto and pump action firearms, 'post-Port Arthur', and I remembered that I had never seen anything in the media about Defence compensating for this rather large loss, with a purchase of extra guns for their gun cupboard. We bought tanks and ships, built subs, thought about new planes...but what about when an enemy got here?
He rolled right over us.
I heard a report some years ago that most of the remaining older hand weapons, SLR's or similar, had gone to the blast furnaces in Port Kembla NSW...and that was that.
To all intents and purposes, there was nothing at all in the cupboard, to give to the citizens if a major incursion occured.
We were almost totally reliant on the US for 'back-up'... and who knew which way future events might take her decisions?
If a new White paper is being prepared then please, someone with some sense, look at 'the hole'...see if it is real... and if it is... please fill it.
In Revelation 9:16 and 16:12 we see a vision Given to John the Apostle of a huge army referred to as "The Kings Of The East" moving westwards across asia, crossing the Euphrates River, and moving on towards Israel. 200 million soldiers...a mind boggling army by any standard. This 200million soldiers lines up with old Mao's boast (Time magazine 1963) that any day he wanted to he could foot 200million soldiers. That army is a real army and China builds for it today.
A number of visions and prophecies to the Christian churches of Australia (from the mid-70's onwards) tell a story of a southern movement of that great asian army...on into Australia.
They also speak about the sins of the people as to why God might just Allow it.

I mentioned some revelations about an invader.
This copy of a letter from a lady AOG pastor by the name of Sharon Moore was something special amongst all of the visions and prophecies I collected over a 16 year period (I had searched Sharon out in Tamworth NSW back in 1993 after I heard that her mother had had a vision some years earlier of enemy paratroopers near Mt. Isa, QLD).
Sharon Moore I knew really well as a dynamic woman of God.
Healings and "words of knowledge" from The Lord frequently moved through her.
Her mother Bette Boske I also knew and was likewise well known in Full Gospel church circles, as a healer and miracle worker.
Sadly both have since gone to be with The Lord and are greatly missed by both my wife and I.

“Dear Graeme,

Greetings to you in Jesus’ precious name.
Sorry for taking so long in answering your letter, life gets quite busy at times. It was nice to hear from you.
We have not heard from Dave Peisker for a long time, do you know where he is these days.
We have traveled a lot in the past three or so years, but it’s nice to stop for a while.
We are involved with the A.O.G. here having resigned the Full Gospel sometime back.
When we were living in Mt. Isa some twelve years ago my mother had a vision of enemy paratroopers landing just north of Mt. Isa.
No one was expecting it to happen and when it did everyone was trying to get out but there was such a traffic jam.
On waking Mum felt The Lord spoke and said just these words, “TWO BABY GIRLS”.
That very day two baby girls were born into our family, one was two weeks late and the other the day she was due.
Mum felt this was a sign that one (event) came to pass and the other would also.
Some twenty five years ago I heard a prophecy saying an enemy would invade Australia from the north and GOD would allow them to come so far into Australia because mostly Australia has rejected GOD but then GOD would raise up another nation to fight on our side and GOD would put hooks in the jaws of the enemy and drive them back.
When this happens don’t give the people fighting on our side, but give GOD the glory.
Our son mark had a word over his life that he would don uniform and quite a number who were in our church at the time got the same word from the same prophet that gave the first prophecy.
This prophet was a true man of GOD who has since gone to be with The Lord and I have never known his prophecies to fail.
Well Graeme I trust this will help you a little.
GOD bless you.
Christian Love,
Sharon Moore”

The fact that both Bette and Sharon have since passed on, matters nothing at all. Revelations can come years before the event occurs. The Book of Revelation is attributed to John on the Isle of Patmos some 96ad...and still hasnt been fulfilled.
Bettes Mt. Isa QLD vision I sent to the defence department back in 1993, to receive a letter in response from Brigadier Adrian D' Hage that he had sent in on to intelligence for them to look at.
Another great revelation is encompassed in the book What Will Become of Australia by Jack Burrell...finally on the internet.
